Clayton Hospitality has the pleasure to announce the completion of the total renovation project and opening of the Quality Hotel Clarenville.
Clayton Hospitality Inc. (CHI) company was started in the 60’s by Clayton Sparkes and is a second-generation family business operating in the Newfoundland and Labrador market. The evolution of the company has been continuous and uninterrupted and includes three hotels that fulfill a variety of desires on every level and in the best possible manner.
The company is known for taking care of the “million little things” – a saying used often by Clayton and representative of the many things which must work together for a company to be successful!
The renovation project began October 2018 and was completed in February 2019. The project included a complete building renovation-inside and out. The renovation includes new rooms (with furniture, bathroom, floors and amenities), reception-lobby area, addition of a fitness room, restaurant, meeting and banquet space.
The Comfort Inn Airport, formerly the Airport Plaza, was purchased by CHI in 2004. Since that time, the hotel has undergone significant renovations, branding, and an expansion resulting in the property becoming a leader in terms of occupancy in St. John’s. The Comfort Inn Airport is a three-time Gold Hospitality Award winner and has been a finalist for the Canadian Hotel of the Year for Choice Hotels Canada.
The Comfort Inn Gander was built in 1989 after a fire destroyed the previous hotel on the site. This recently expanded 79-room property is a limited service hotel with food and beverage services provided by Jungle Jim’s, connected to the hotel. The hotel is recognized by Choice Hotels as a platinum award winner, one of the top three percent of hotels in Canada. The hotel recently expanded to meet market demand and is a leader in occupancy in Central Newfoundland.
Real Estate Holdings
The company’s real estate holdings include seven acres on Portugal Cove Road currently in the development phase of a new project, commercial buildings on Vanguard Court, and residential rental homes in St. John’s. Clayton Hospitality’s collective interests employ more than 400 people in Atlantic Canada.
